I am a teacher but have decided this year should take a slower pace than last year, that I should take time to appreciate life, so how better than to document it in photos!

Day 10 The bath refurbishment!

When we bought this house (in October 2010) it was pretty grotty. When I went to clean the bath, it looked particularly bad, so I grabbed a scourer and gumption and went to work. Unfortunately the bath ate the scourer as the surface of the bath was so damaged that a plastic scourer was no match for the damaged surface of an enamel bath! As it is ridiculous to clean, we have never used the bath.

We didn’t want to replace the bath as it is checked in to the wall and would require a bathroom makeover which we are not ready to do yet. I Googled bath resurfacing but could not come up with a ball park figure to start from, and as baths are not high on the priority list, I kept forgetting about following up.

Then in October 2011 I finally started an email chain of events that ended with a guy who does bath resurfacing saying give me a call and we can discuss it. I usually remember to call people at about 9.30pm, or as I am driving to work, which are not opportune times to call, so I didn’t get around to it…..until last week. The guy said he could come today. So at 8am, he started the job. The pics are of the bathroom covered in brown paper to protect it from overspray, and the bath aver he had filled the scratches and damage with filler, before he coated it.

The job is now finished but the bath has to be left 24 hours before it can be used…looks like a book, a glass of wine and my bath pillow might get a workout tomorrow night!
